Overview (Scope of Role)

The Category Procurement Manager - Indirect Materials & Services role will be a member of the NA Indirect Procurement team, with the key responsibility to partner with global and local functional leadership to establish category specific strategies and drive the supplier identification, negotiations and contracting necessary to meet the desired requirements at the best possible economics.

Key functional areas of focus for this position include, but are not limited to: Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) within North America. This includes the support of CAPEX projects. He / She will manage the relations with the established vendors across all these categories.

Responsibilities
    Establish strong working relationships with functional stakeholders and jointly define and implement 3-5 year category strategies that support the needs of the function
  • Lead or co-lead Sourcing Councils; handle collection and sharing of market intelligence in the respective areas with functional partners to proactively identify new opportunities for service or cost savings
  • Challenge existing concepts, specifications and cost budgets introducing new sourcing solutions, change agent at business level
  • Lead the execution of sourcing projects against identified opportunities and subsequent development for new suppliers
  • Lead negotiations and ensure cross functional support/approvals of agreed to commercial terms; drive successful implementation of new agreements
  • Depending on assigned portfolio, individual will manage sourcing activities for a total annual spend of ~$50-75 MM across 300+ vendors. Assigned portfolio might include local, regional, and global responsibilities
  • Develop strong teamwork within the global procurement team and with the key stakeholders within the locations and functions supported; identify and implement leverage opportunities across the company
  • Manage key supplier relationships and performance to contracts of assigned categories within region and globally where needed
  • Maintain and execute the best in class procurement processes, ensure proper contract administration, follow policy requirements, utilize key procurement tools, and troubleshoot issues with our tactical procurement team

  • Delivery of optimum supply of services and / or products
  • Well communicated strategy and market changes within each category
  • Reliable supply and execution of projects which reduce price or service risk
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Engineering/Chemistry, Supply Chain or Operations Management is required
  • 7-10+ years of experience in procurement related roles
  • Strategic minded with ability to execute
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to engage with and influence multiple key internal clients
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse portfolio of projects across multiple spend and geographical areas, and work under pressure with competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and negotiation skills
  • Proficient analytical skills
  • Experience in a global, chemical business environment preferred
